Kansas City, Mo. – It was a near upset win for the McPherson College men's tennis team as they came within a point from taking down NCAA D-II Rockhurst University on Saturday; MC fell 5-4, kicking off their Missouri tour on a bit of a sour note.
The top doubles team of Joan-Marc Fajula Rodriguez and Ahmed Lahlou were the first to score for the 'Dogs as they took their match 8-5. Hugo Ball-Greene and Jaime Roman fell 8-6 at No. 2 doubles and Hector Carrillo Perales and his partner Jose Maria Carrillo Reina were close to getting Mac the lead heading into singles but fell 9-8 at No. 3.
In singles, Fajula Rodriguez cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory to give MC their second point. Lahlou took his match 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 while Carillio Rena had to go to three sets to claim his point, 4-6, 6-1, 10-6. Ball-Green fell 7-6, 6-4, coming the closest to giving McPherson the fifth point.
The Bulldogs will next face the University of Missouri-St. Louis on March 15th at 11:00 a.m. (CT) in Saint Louis.
