McPherson, Kan. – It was nearly another sweep for the McPherson College men's tennis team as they took down Bethel College 8-1 on Monday night. The Bulldogs are now 2-0 in the conference and 9-4 overall.
"The men used the doubles to help us get a good start in singles," said Coach Stuckey. "We were really focused and worked hard in all of the matches."
The 'Dogs took all three doubles points, winning 8-4, 8-5, and 8-5.
In singles play, Mac won at No. 3 then No. 4 to take the match as Hector Carrillo Perales won 6-1, 6-1 and Hugo Ball-Greene won 6-2, 6-1, respectively. Ahmed Lahlou had the most entertaining match as he was down 4-1 in the opening set but then came back and won 6-4; in the second, he trailed 5-2 but then won 7-5. After getting down early in the opening set, Joan-Marc Fajula Rodriguez settled down and went on to win 6-4, 6-1 at the top spot for the Bulldogs. Pablo Garcia had the quickest match as he won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6
Mac will take on Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas on April 9th for their next match; start time is set for 2:00 p.m. (CT)
