Lewis Scores Game Winning Goal for ‘Dogs

McPherson, Kan. – Cydney Lewis netted the lone goal of the match between McPherson College and St. Gregory's University on Wednesday night.  The victory puts MC at 2-1 on the year.

"Tonight our ladies beat a good side," said Coach Quint.  "We were good in possession and stayed very organized.  I am so pleased with this team's commitment to each other and the direction we are headed.  Our ladies are growing every day."

In the opening half, Mac outshot the Cavaliers 6-1 and was able to put a pair on frame but both were saved by SGU.  Saint Gregory's was held to just one shot which was saved by McPherson keeper Sheryl Evans.

In the second half the 'Dogs took another five shot with Cydney Lewis' 53rd minute strike going in the goal.  The Cavaliers would not go down without a fight and took five shots in the final 30 minutes; the only one that went on target was stopped by Mac to preserve their 1-0 victory.

Out of the 11 McPherson shots, Lewis was responsible for three with the one going between the posts.  Allie Hicks struck two for MC but had both stopped by the St. Gregory's.  Lacy Fry also took two tries at goal with one going on frame.

Evans tallied a pair of saves in her 90-minutes in goal, picking up the win for McPherson.

MC has 10 days off before their next match which is scheduled for September 19th at 1:00 p.m. (CT) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma against Mid-America Christian University.
