Wichita, Kan. – It was not a lucky Saint Patrick's Day for the McPherson College men's tennis team as they fell to NCAA D-I Wichita State University, 7-0.
The Shockers took the opening point as they won all of the three doubles matches; in NCAA rules, you only receive one point for winning two of the three. The closest Mac came to winning one of the doubles matches was at the No. 1 position where Joan-Marc Fajula Rodriguez and Hector Carrillo Perales fell, 6-4.
In singles, WSU again swept; they ended the match after their win at No. 2 where Ahmed Lahlou fought tough but lost 6-2, 6-1. Hugo Ball-Greene won the most games with his 6-4, 6-2 loss at the No. 4 position. Fajula Rodriguez also put up a fight at No. 1, falling 6-1, 6-4.
The Bulldogs will take off on their spring break road trip this next week as they travel to Missouri for a series of matches with a wide variety of opponents. The first match is set for March 21st at NCAA D-II Rockhurst University.
