Kansas City, Mo. – It was a battle of a pair of the NAIA's top teams as McPherson College and Cardinal Stritch University competed in a neutral site match on Friday. After a hard-fought outing, the No. 16 Stritch Wolves defeated No. 11 McPherson 7-2.
The intensity of doubles was a good indication of how the day was going to go. Two of the three matches went to 9-8 with the Bulldogs claiming No. 3 with Kurt Burton and Ahmed Lahlou winning 9-8 (4). At the No. 1 position, Joan-Marc Fajula Rodriguez and Hector Carrillo Perales lost their 9-8 (5) match, putting Mac down 2-1 heading into singles.
McPherson tied the match up with an easy 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 by Lahlou, giving him a pair of wins on the day. Unfortunately, that was the last win for the 'Dogs. Both No. 5 and No. 1 went into three sets with Juan Alejandro Jimenez losing 7-6, 3-6, 10-8 and Fajula Rodriguez going down 3-6, 6-4, 6-3; those were the last matches to finish.
