ROME, Ga. (macbulldogs.com) --- The McPherson College men's tennis duo of
Ahmed Lahlou (Casablanca, Morocco, Groupe Scolaire Anfa) and
Hector Carrillo Perales (Barcelona, Spain, Bon Salvador) wrapped up play at the ITA Oracle Cup Saturday afternoon with a sixth-place finish after a 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (7) loss to Federico Herrera Duran and Mika Kosonen of Georgia Gwinnett College at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College.
The teams traded breaks of serve to start the match. Lahlou and Carrillo then broke the Grizzly tandem's serve again to start a 4-0 run that gave the Bulldogs a 5-1 lead. Herrera Duran and Kosonen held serve to close the gap to 5-2, but Lahlou and Carrillo won the next game to take the first set.
Herrera Duran and Kosonen took the second set, 6-3, to force a match tie-breaker. After splitting the first four points, the Georgia Gwinnett duo pulled away to win 10-7.
The sixth-place national finish in the second in a row for Carrillo, who also took sixth in 2016 with Joan-Marc Fajula Rodriguez.
The McPherson men have one contest remaining on their fall schedule - a dual at Emporia State University slated for Thursday, Oct. 19. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
