LAWRENCE, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) --- The No. 18 McPherson College men's tennis team picked up its first dual win of the year with a 9-0 sweep of Baker University Saturday afternoon at Jayhawk Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs (1-2) opened by taking all three doubles matches.
Joan-Marc Fajula Rodriguez (Catalonia, Spain) and
Hector Carrillo Perales (Barcelona, Spain, Bom Salvador) defeated Blake Barnard and Austin Keberlein, 8-5, at No. 1 doubles, while the tandems of
Ahmed Lahlou (Casablanca, Morocco, Groupe Scolaire Anfa) and
Nicolas Wahl and
Timo Hoelzmann (Berlin, Germany, Schadow Gymnasium) and
Juan Alejandro Jimenez (Pereira, Colombia, Liceotaller San Miguel) scored matching 8-3 wins at No. 2 and No.3 doubles, respectively.
In singles play, all six Bulldogs scored straight-set victories, highlighted by a 6-1, 6-1 win by Fajula over Barnard at the No. 1 spot and a 6-0, 6-2 win by Wahl over Connor Petty at the No. 4 spot.
McPherson faces Barton County Community College in an exhibition match Saturday, March 4 at 11 a.m.
