Women's Tennis Remains Unbeaten in KCAC With Sweep of Bethel

McPHERSON, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) --- The 21st-ranked McPherson College women's tennis team took sole possession of first place in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) with a 9-0 win over Bethel College Monday afternoon at the McPherson High School courts.

The Bulldogs (4-2, 4-0 KCAC) dropped just one game in three doubles matches as Brittany Zipf (Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, Emmaus College) and Besa Bwalya (Hoisington, Kan., Hoisington HS) at No. 1 and Deiah Curtis and Madison Hoffman at No. 3 posted shutouts. Lea Striegel and Zoe Bouwmeester added an 8-1 win over Jennifer Harrison and Kimberley Buzbee at the No. 2 spot.

In singles play, McPherson conceded just three games - no more than one in any one match. Zipf (No. 1), Hoffman (No. 5) and Curtis (No. 6) all posted 6-0, 6-0 wins, while Bwalya (No. 2) and Bouwmeester (No. 4) were 6-0, 6-1 winners. Striegel topped Harrison, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 3 to close out the match.

Monday marked the first of three KCAC matches this week for McPherson, which travels to Tabor College (5-4, 2-1 KCAC) on Thursday afternoon and Bethany College (0-5, 0-3 KCAC) on Saturday morning.
