OTTAWA, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) --- The 22nd-ranked McPherson College men's tennis team locked up a top-three Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) regular-season finish and a spot in the KCAC Tournament with an 8-1 win over Ottawa University Wednesday afternoon at Forest Park.
The Bulldogs (7-3, 6-0 KCAC) took another opportunity to test its depth Wednesday, resting
Joan-Marc Fajula Rodriguez (Catalonia, Spain).
McPherson grabbed a 3-0 lead after doubles -- all by 8-2 scores.
Ahmed Lahlou (Casablanca, Morocco, Groupe Scolaire Anfa) and
Nicolas Wahl defeated Joshua Hache and Mekasha Tadious at No. 1,
Timo Hoelzmann (Berlin, Germany, Schadow Gymnasium) and
Juan Alejandro Jimenez (Pereira, Colombia, Liceotaller San Miguel) topped Raj Selvaraj and Brandon Edwards at No. 2 and
Hector Carrillo Perales (Barcelona, Spain, Bom Salvador) and
Paul Weidinger (Leipzig, Germany, Rahu Gymnasium)Â won over Virgil Reed and Bobby Vo.
The Bulldogs posted straight-set wins at the top five positions as Lahlou beat Tadious, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 1, Carrillo defeated Hache, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2, Wahl was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Selvaraj at No. 3, Jimenez posted a 6-1, 6-2 win over Reed at No. 4 and Hoelzmann topped Edwards, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 5.
Vo picked up the lone win for the Braves (6-12, 4-3 KCAC), defeating Weidinger, 6-3, 6-2, at the No. 6 spot.
McPherson continues KCAC play Thursday with a matchup against Kansas Wesleyan University (12-3, 6-1 KCAC). The men's match will start at 4 p.m. at the McPherson High School courts.
