McPHERSON, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) --- The McPherson College men's tennis team remained unbeaten in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) play Saturday with a 9-0 win over Friends University at the McPherson High School courts.
The Bulldogs (4-3, 3-0 KCAC) gave up just two games in doubles play - both at No. 1 - as
Joan-Marc Fajula Rodriguez (Catalonia, Spain) and
Hector Carrillo Perales (Barcelona, Spain, Bom Salvador) recorded an 8-2 win over Stefan Nikolic and Sebastian Smithback.
Ahmed Lahlou (Casablanca, Morocco, Groupe Scolaire Anfa) and
Nicolas Wahl at No. 2 and
Timo Hoelzmann (Berlin, Germany, Schadow Gymnasium) and
Juan Alejandro Jimenez (Pereira, Colombia, Liceotaller San Miguel) at No. 3 both posted 8-0 victories as McPherson forged a 3-0 lead.
Head Coach Dustin Wheeler opted to hold Fajula out of the singles lineup against the Falcons (1-7, 0-3 KCAC), moving everyone up one spot. The change in positions had little impact on the final score, however. Lahlou had the stiffest test, topping Nikolic 6-1, 7-5 at No. 1, while Carrillo beat Smithback, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2 and Wahl posted a 6-3, 6-0 win over Isaac Penner at No. 3. Jimenez, Hoelzmann and
Paul Weidinger (Leipzig, Germany, Rahu Gymnasium) did not drop a game en route to wins at Nos. 4, 5 and 6.
The Bulldogs (4-3, 3-0 KCAC) have a busy week ahead of them. First up is a home match against Bethel at 3 p.m. Monday, followed by road matches at Tabor (Thursday, 1 p.m.), Bethany (Saturday, TBA) and NCAA Division I Wichita State (Sunday, 2:30 p.m.).
