Women's Soccer Shuts Out Tabor, 2-0

McPHERSON, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) --- The McPherson College women's soccer team posted its fourth shutout of the season, blanking rival Tabor College, 2-0, in a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) match Saturday afternoon at McPherson Stadium.

Ana Guerrero (Graton, Calif., Santa Rosa JC) and Juliana Munoz (Antelope, Calif., American River College) each scored a goal and recorded an assist on the other's goal to lead the Bulldogs (4-3, 1-1 KCAC).

The Bluejays (3-5, 0-2 KCAC) outshot the Bulldogs, 13-12, and had a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal, but McPherson was able to get the goals when it needed them.

Munoz struck first, netting her goal in the 32nd minute. Guerrero threaded a shot through a handful of Tabor defenders onto the foot of Munoz, who slipped the ball past Bluejay keeper Ruby-Anne Fines.

The score held until late in the proceedings when Munoz found Guerrero with a cross in the 87th minute.

Munoz and Guerrero each had four shots, including two on goal, while McPherson goalkeeper Christie Silber (Simi Valley, Calif., Simi Valley HS) made seven saves en route to her fourth clean sheet of the season.

Dakota Spencer took eight shots, with five ending up on frame, to lead Tabor.

"I'm very pleased with today's result," said head coach Mark Olson. "Once again, the team responds well following a loss. It was great to have Ana back after being out for the week due to a concussion. Ana and Juliana combined well assisting on each other's goals. Today's result was a reflection of our team getting back to our style of play. I have been very pleased with the consistency of our back four and goalkeeper as we added another shutout to the year."

The Bulldogs take to the road for the next outing, a Wednesday evening matchup with Friends University. Kickoff from Adair-Austin Stadium in Wichita is slated for 6 p.m.
