GULF SHORES, Ala. (macbulldogs.com) --- McPherson College sophomore sprinter Amy Braimbridge (Connolly, Australia, St. Stephens School) won her preliminary heat in the 400-meter dash Friday afternoon to advance to Saturday's final at the 2018 NAIA Track and Field Championships at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium.

Braimbridge, who took fourth to earn All-America honors at the 2018 NAIA Indoor Championships, shook off a slow start out of the blocks and surged into the lead down the front stretch to finish with a time of 55.62 seconds. She edged Wayland Baptist's Ja'lanna Williams (56.06), who also transferred into the final.

Braimbridge emerged with the fourth-fastest time following prelims and will come out of lane three in the final, which - after yet another schedule revision due to predicted inclement weather - is slated for 3:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Hunter Sury (Katy, Texas, Katy HS) took sixth in his preliminary heat of the 100. His time of 10.78 seconds was 0.18 off the final transfer spot. He will have one more chance at All-America honors Saturday as he will anchor the McPherson 4x100 relay in the final at 1:50 p.m.

Dylan Templeman (Princeton, Texas, Princeton HS) was the final Bulldog to compete Saturday. He finished 17th in the discus throw with a toss of 45.99 meters (150-10) on his initial attempt of the competition.

The final day of the championships begin bright and early Saturday morning as Jonathan Dominguez (Chicago, Ill., Salina South HS) and Jesse Freeman (Castle Rock, Colo., Castle View HS) take on the marathon course at the Orange Beach Sportsplex beginning at 6 a.m.
