On Wednesday October 16, the McPherson College women's soccer team is hosting the Bethel College Threshers at 7 p.m. at McPherson Stadium. The Bulldogs and Threshers have set aside Wednesday's game as "Juvenile Diabetes Awareness" night. The teams will be using the game as a platform to raise awareness for type 1 diabetes in children.

Currently, type one diabetes is a non-curable disease that effects around 1.25 million Americans, many of whom were diagnosed younger than the age of 12. Type one is a condition where the pancreas stops producing insulin and the individual becomes insulin dependent, creating a life of constantly managing diabetes for young kids.

This is a cause that is dear to the Bulldog women's soccer team because current team member, Hannah McKay, was diagnosed with type one diabetes as an eight year old. It is McKay's hope that her story will inspire other young children to keep playing sports and to not let diabetes get in the way of following their dreams.

The McPherson College women's soccer team has set up a GoFundMe page, and all donations from that page and those received at Wednesday's game will go directly to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). A link to the GoFundMe page can be found on the women's soccer page at www.macbulldogs.com and will be shared on the women's soccer Facebook and Twitter pages.

With the support and donations from Bulldog Nation, the McPherson Soccer Family hopes to help the JDRF turn type one into type none.
