Inman, Kan. – The McPherson College athletic department kicked off the 2019-20 year with their second annual Bulldog Athletics Banquet and Pat Noyes Champions Club Golf Benefit, a fundraising event benefitting MC's 400+ student-athletes and programs, held at 365 Sports Complex in Inman, Kansas. The festivities were held July 26 – 27 with the golf benefit taking place on Friday at Turkey Creek Golf Course and then the weekend wrapping up with the banquet on Saturday evening.

Friday's Pat Noyes Champions Club Golf Benefit was a 4-person scramble made up of 19 teams that included alumni, sponsors, McPherson College staff, and members of the community. The teams teed off in a shotgun start beginning at 3 pm. When the dust settled at the end of the evening, the Midway Motors team turned in the lowest score, a 14 under 57.

On Saturday afternoon, the doors opened at the 365 Sports Complex beginning an evening filled with fun games and prizes, great food, and silent and live auctions. While the games were going on prior to the dinner being served, patrons had the opportunity to bid on a wide variety of items in the silent auction, everything from a custom wrapped Bulldog deep freeze, to a golf outing with McPherson College President Michael Schneider and Bulldog Athletic Director Andrew Ehling.

After the catered barbecue dinner concluded, Gregory Cole, of the Heartland Black Chamber of Commerce out of Wichita took the stage and invited all attendees to the Heartland Classic football game between the Bulldogs and Langston University on September 7 at Cessna Stadium.

From there the auctioneer was handed the microphone to kick off the live auction. Items included custom Bulldog equipment and furniture, tickets to a Kansas City Chiefs game, tickets to a George Strait concert in Las Vegas, tickets to the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament next January, and many other great prizes.

This year's event once again exceeded the expectations of the planning committee in both total number of attendees, and money raised. "This event proves how strong and loyal our constituents support McPherson College Athletics," said Ehling. "We grew in attendance and gross revenue from our inaugural year without having a headlining keynote speaker. McPherson College has some of the best alumni and friends an institution could ask for. We can't thank everyone enough."

All of the funds raised during the weekend directly benefit McPherson College student-athletes through athletic scholarships, updated equipment, and facility enhancements. With the success of the first two Bulldog Athletics Banquets, it is becoming apparent that last weekend in July is quickly becoming a must attend event. Alumni are coming from further distances each year to connect with former teammates and coaches, and to show their support for Bulldog Athletics.

A special thanks to Big Brothers Big Sisters, Peoples Bank and Trust, Midway Motors, and Home State Bank, who sponsored the event, and to the emcees Jim Joyner and Carol Swenson. Planning for next year's event, July 24 and 25th, is already underway.
