Bulldogs Roll Threshers and Builders

Winfield, Kan. – Since being pushed to five sets by Avila University back on February 27, the McPherson College volleyball team has won their last 21 sets. That is seven straight set wins in a row. The Bulldogs picked up two more sweeps on Saturday in a triangular hosted by Southwestern College.

The Bulldogs opened the day taking on the Bethel College Threshers. The Bulldogs cruised to a relatively easy win rolling the Threshers 25-11, 25-21, 25-17. The Bulldogs followed that with a sweep of the Southwestern College Moundbuilders.

The Bulldogs opened the match taking set one, 25-19. The Builders made things interesting in the second set, but the Bulldogs were able to keep their streak alive by winning the set 25-23. The Builders didn't have much fight left in them after dropping the first two sets. The Bulldogs kept their foot on the gas, and closed out the match winning set three, 25-13.

Between the two matches, the Bulldogs recorded 79 kills on 211 swings with 33 errors giving them an attack percentage of .218

The Bulldogs recorded assists on 68 of their 79 kills.

Defensively they tallied nine blocks, and came up with 83 defensive digs in the two matches.

Next Up

 The Bulldogs, now 20-7 on the season, and 17-4 in KCAC play, will be back in action on Wednesday when they host intra-county rival Bethany College. The Bulldogs and Swedes will serve it up at 7:00 pm at the Sport Center.
