McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College women's soccer team picked up an important result on Saturday, defeating the Ottawa University Braves at home on Saturday 1-0.

The Bulldogs scored the only goal in the game in the game's 25th minute. Emma Singleton, who missed the entire fall with an injury, took an initial shot that deflected off an Ottawa defender and right to the foot of Jasmyn Harvey-Thompson. The freshman calmly collected the ball and buried it in the back of the net for her first career goal.

From there the Bulldogs hung on. The Braves had a couple of good looks, including two shots that went off the crossbar in the first half, but Christie Silber was up to the task, coming up with six saves and securing the clean sheet.

"It's not always pretty but we earned the result today," said Bulldog Head Coach Mark Olson. "I thought Ottawa did a nice job maintaining possession and connecting their passes. After spending 10 days away from the field due to health issues, I was extremely proud of how hard our ladies worked today and happy for them getting the win. It was also great to see some of our signed players at the game today. Congratulations to Jasmyn for scoring her first goal of the season."

With the win, the Bulldogs are now 3-6 on the year and 3-6 in conference play as well. They will be back in action on Wednesday evening when they host the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles at Paul Family Field. Kick-off is slated for 5:30 pm.
