Bulldogs Impressive on the Road at Sterling

Sterling, Kan. – The McPherson College tennis teams went on the road Saturday, and both picked up 6-1 victories over the Sterling College Warriors.

The Bulldogs bounced back from their tough loss on Wednesday to Ottawa, dropping just two matches against the Warriors. The Bulldogs started off the dual by securing the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. The #1 team of Erica Paradise and Polina Khoroshevskaya fell to the Warriors 6-2. The #2 and #3 teams picked up the slack giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead heading into the singles portion of the dual.

In singles, the Bulldogs won five of the six positions. The only loss came at #1 where Vanessa Mundo fell 7-5, 6-1. Below are the full list of scores.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs were dominant, picking up where they left off against Ottawa on Wednesday. They took the doubles point by sweeping all three matches, dropping a grand total of four games between the three.

In singles, the Bulldogs kept their foot on the gas. They won five of the six matches all of them in straight sets. After three tough losses at #1, Julien Bodin got a much needed confidence booster winning 6-2, 6-1. The only loss on the day came at #6. Jakob Komel won the first set 6-4, but was forced to retire trailing 1-4 in the second.

"We got the start we wanted, kept our foot on the gas the entire way," said Coach Allen. It was a compete group effort and we are looking to continue this for the rest of the KCAC season."

"We got a confidence win against Sterling today," said Bulldog head coach Clay Allen. It will be important for both teams for this upcoming week as we battle Southwestern and Bethel. Overall it was a solid performance from everyone."

The wins put the Bulldog women at 4-2 overall, and 2-1 in KCAC play while the men are 5-1 and 3-1 in conference matches.

Both teams have another big match coming up next Tuesday, a road match-up with Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. First serve against the Moundbuilders is scheduled for 3:00 pm
