Salina, Kan. – The McPherson College volleyball team opened up KCAC play on Wednesday evening with an impressive 3-1 win on the road at Kansas Wesleyan University.
The most impressive part of the match was the way the Bulldogs handled everything the Coyotes threw at them and battled back every time they made a run. The Bulldogs opened the match by winning set 1, 26-24. They led the Coyotes by four points, 18-14, but saw the Coyotes go on a 10-4 run to take the lead 24-22. Facing two set points, the Bulldogs responded with four unanswered points to take the set.
The Bulldogs came out strong in set 2, and had a five point lead midway through 17-12. This time however, though the fought back to make the set close at the end, they ended up dropping the set 25-23. Despite the set-back, the MC ladies came out confident in the third set. The majority of the set was dead even, but the Bulldogs went on a run late and secured the set 25-21. They kept their foot on the gas in set four, refusing to let the Coyotes back into the match. They finished them off winning set 4, 25-21.

The key statistic in Wednesday's match were kills. The Bulldogs had 67 kills to 50 for the Coyotes. Three Bulldogs had double digit kill totals.

With the win, the Bulldogs move to 5-5 overall, and 1-0 in KCAC play. The have a two week break before returning to the court on September 29 to square off against intra-county rival Bethany College at 7:00 pm in the Sport Center.
