McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson College Bulldogs opened the home portion of their schedule on Saturday (Sep. 9), but fell 4-1 to the Southwestern Christian University Eagles at Paul Family Field at McPherson Stadium.
The Eagles struck first in the fifth minute on a goal by Jessica Garcia, but the Bulldogs leveled the score when Caitlin Buendia took over and found the back of the net in the 21st minute.
But from there, it was all Eagles, scoring two more before halftime, then again in the 89th minute.
Lauren Kunda got the start in goal for the Bulldogs and made five saves. Elizabeth Scheuerman played the entire second half in the net, and made a pair of stops.
Buendia and Courtney Wickham had the only two shots-on-goal for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs are back in action Wednesday (Sep. 13) for the conference opener against Tabor College. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m. in Hillsboro.
