KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The McPherson College Bulldogs scored two goals in the final eight minutes to level the score and draw with the Avila University Eagles in Kansas City, Mo. The draw snaps a 6-game losing streak for the Bulldogs.
Anthony Pereira scored his second goal of the contest in the 83rd minute on a penalty kick, then less than 90 seconds later, Nathan Van Wyck knotted the score finding the ball at the top of the 6-yard box and burying it.
The Bulldogs scored three goals, which is the most by MC so far this season. Pereira recorded his first-career multi-goal game.
MC had plenty of chances in the opening half, finishing with nine shots, but just one on target. Camden Wiseman made a pair of saves to keep the game scoreless after 45 minutes.
Pereira put the Bulldogs on the board in the 49th minute firing a shot past the outstretched arm of Johnathan Fager. Avila scored three unanswered goals between the 67th minute and the 75th minute.
The Bulldogs return to McPherson Stadium on Wednesday (Sep. 20) as they square off against Kansas Wesleyan for the KCAC home-opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
