Box Score 2 LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The McPherson College Bulldogs wrapped up their Spring Break trip through Georgia with a win over Point University before falling to top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College.
MATCH ONE – MC 7, PU 0
The Bulldogs picked up their third sweep of the season in Valley, Ala. MC won the doubles point after a quick match that saw Marcano/Brouwer sweep Yoshikawa/Cruz. Then Beltran/Millos took down Van Camp/Miltenburg 6-3 to secure the 1-0 lead.
Celien Botlan gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead with a quick 6-2, 6-0 win over Erick Cruz, then Marcus Nardy defeated Daan van Miltenburg in three sets. Arthur Nardy followed with a three-set win of his own, knocking off Louis Van Camp 7-5, 0-6, 10-4 to clinch the win.
Martin Millos, Daniel Marcano, and Texas Ranger Schmidt finished off the sweep defeating Martin Brena, Mateo Rodriguez, and Yuta Yoshikawa respectively.
MATCH TWO – GGC 7, MC 0
On Thursday, the Bulldogs knew it would be a tall task, squaring off against the nation's top squad. The Grizzlies have won nine straight national championships.
GGC won the doubles point, after three straight 6-4 wins. Santiago Villarruel put GGC on top 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Millos, then Marcano fell to Mihailo Radosavljevic 6-4, 6-2.
The Grizzlies made it a 4-0 lead after Luis Francisco Sampedro took down Arthur Nardy 6-0, 6-3. Beltran and Marcus Nardy then fell in their respective matches 6-1, 6-4, and 6-3, 6-1. Botlan wrapped up the afternoon falling 6-1, 7-6.
The Bulldogs have a busy week ahead, playing at Bethany Monday before hosting Kansas Wesleyan Wednesday. MC will travel to take on NCAA Division II Emporia State Friday then host Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday.
