WINFIELD, Kan. — The McPherson College Bulldogs overpowered the Southwestern College Moundbuilders, winning 6-1 Saturday (Apr. 13) in Winfield, Kan.
With just three players on the Moundbuilders' roster, Vanessa Hofer and Kayla Ortiz gave the Bulldogs the doubles point and clinched the win for the team with a 6-4 win over Mariana Ochoa and Alexis Kersten in the only doubles match of the day.
Alexa Garcia made it a 5-0 Bulldog lead with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep over Rosennscar Elie. Hofer pushed the lead to 6-0 with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-4 win on court two.
Ochoa put the Builders on the board late with a three-set win over Zeynep Barut.
The Bulldogs hit the road for a huge KCAC showdown against Ottawa University on Thursday (Apr. 18).
