INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Bulldogs wrapped up their inaugural regular season with a strong showing in the 56th annual Hoosier Classic, one the most prestigious college bowling tournaments in the country.
On Saturday, the team competed in five traditional team games. The Bulldogs remained consistent throughout the day, putting up a total pinfall of 4,624 which placed them 23rd out of the 65 teams in the event.
Veronyca West continues to shine since her arrival to MC as led the squad once again with a five game total of 1,010 for a 202 average to place 38th overall.
Alyssa Porcelli and
Kayla Wood also bowled all five games finishing 111th and 117th respectively out of 410 bowlers.
Miranda Hunt also put in a solid performance, averaging a pinfall of 191 in her three games.
On Sunday, the Bulldogs competed in a total of 15 baker games. After a slow start in game one, MC rebounded nicely in the second set of games where we put up a season high pinfall of 1026 including a season high baker game score of 246. The Bulldogs finished with a five game total of 965 in the third set, landing the team in 23rd place out of 65 teams in the final standings.
The team wraps up its inaugural season ranked in the top 50 of the USBC power point rankings out of 160 Women's teams. The team also finished ranked 30th in the most recent NAIA RPI rankings.
The Bulldogs now prepare for KCAC Championships Saturday, February 22 in Sioux City, Iowa where the team will enter as the three seed for the double elimination bracket. The team also qualified for Intercollegiate Team Championships Sectionals which will begin play on Saturday, March 8. The selection show on take place on Wednesday, February 19.
