Box Score 2 McPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson College men's tennis team rattled off a pair of victories to close out the regular season, defeating Friends University 7-0 before downing Oklahoma Wesleyan 6-1.
The Bulldogs are now 16-8 overall, including 10-2 in KCAC action.
In doubles action against Friends,
Simon Delgadillo and
Arthur Nardy combined for a 6-3 victory at No. 2.
Jayson Wasserfuhr and
Balazs Temesvari won by an identical score at the No. 3 slot, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.
In singles competition, the Bulldogs swept all six matches. Nardy won a tightly-contested match at No. 1 by scores of 6-4, 7-6.
Oscar Brouwer notched a 6-0, 6-3 victory at the No. 2 position while
Celien Botlan recorded a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 spot.
Wasserfuhr continued the team's solid play with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 4 spot. Delgadillo garnered a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 5 position before Temesvari cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.
In doubles action on Friday against Oklahoma Wesleyan on Senior Day, McPherson College registered the doubles point by sweeping all three matches. Brouwer and Botlan notched a 6-3 victory at the top spot. Nardy and Delgadillo tallied a 6-2 win at No. 2 while Temesvari and Wasserfuhr won by an identical mark at the No. 3 slot.
In singles competition, Nardy accounted for a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the top spot. Brouwer wasted little time in his 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3. Wasserfuhr posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4.
Delgadillo recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 5 spot while Temesvari bested his foe 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 6 position.
The Bulldogs return to action Apr. 24-26 at the KCAC Tournament, which will be held in Lindsborg, Kan.
