McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson College Bulldogs men's tennis squad has a long history of success in the KCAC Tournament, and will look to add to it this weekend when they travel to Lindsborg, Kan.
"Although something of a Cliché, this postseason tournament really is a fresh start, a new opportunity for each of the conference's teams to earn a trip to nationals," interim head coach Craig Holman said. "Our approach is not to defend our successes of the past, rather to attack each tournament match with vigor, with the smart, aggressive tennis, for which we are known."
MC enters the 2025 edition of the event as the three-seed, holding a 16-8 record overall and a 10-2 mark in KCAC play. The Bulldogs two losses in conference this season came to top-seeded Ottawa and second-seeded Bethel, both matches played on the road.
Nine consecutive KCAC Tournament titles. That is what is on the line when the Bulldogs get going in Lindsborg. MC has not lost a KCAC Tournament match since 2014 when they fell to Bethany College 5-3 in the KCAC Championship match.
The Bulldogs open the KCAC Tournament Wednesday (Apr. 23) against six-seeded Saint Mary, with the match played at Smoky Valley High School at 9:00 a.m.
McPherson won the regular season matchup 6-1 in the KCAC opener at the Bulldog Tennis Center with the lone loss coming at No. 2-singles when Oscar Brouwer fell to Nils Dueppe in a three-set thriller.
With a win the Bulldogs would advance to the KCAC semifinals to take on the winner between second-seeded Bethel and seventh-seeded Kansas Wesleyan. That semifinal match would be played at Smoky Valley High School at 9:00 a.m.
