How it Happened
Prior to both teams opening up their scoring for the night, the headline of the first half was the straight red card shown to Mid-America Christian's Diego Sano in the 18th minute of play. A hard challenge at the midfield stripe from the Evangels would put them down a man for the remainder of the match. Handling the adversity, the Evangels would strike first shortly after in the 25th minute with a near-post rocket of a shot from Federico Palacios for the 1-0 advantage. Nearing the halftime whistle blasts from the official, McPherson's Alex Escobedo would take advantage of a free ball within the penalty box and find the back of the net from short range for the 1-1 equalizer; this would mark the Bulldogs' first goal of the new season.

Mid-America Christian would take the lead following the halftime break in the 59th minute as Ryan Jeanfreau was gifted a pass by Carlos Lobo between McPherson defenders. Without taking a first touch on the ball, Jeanfreau turned and fired a right-footed shot into the near-side corner for the go-ahead goal.

The Evangels would be handed another red card in the 78th minute caused by Jair Estrada's extra curriculars away from the action, giving the Bulldogs the upper hand for the remainder of the match. Looking for the equalizer for the last twelve minutes, McPherson managed three shots against the opposition, but the Evangels were able to hang onto their 2-1 lead and find their first win of the season.
