How it Happened

A few minutes later, goalkeeper Emily Singletary made a save on a slow rolling shot taken from inside the box. With 24 seconds left in the half, Saint Mary broke through with Yaneila Romanlopez slotting home a rebound to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

The Bulldogs looked for a response early in the second half as Taylor Duvall sent a long range shot towards goal and forced a save from the Spires' keeper. Moments later, Alyssa Hill nearly tied the game but sent her shot just wide of the net. In the 64th minute, Saint Mary doubled their advantage on a corner kick taken by Kate Erpelding that dinked off the back post and went in, making it 2-0.

McPherson was unable to find the efficiency needed to level the match, finishing with two shots and three saves from Singletary in the 2-0 defeat.
