The Matchup
The McPherson College men’s soccer team wraps up its five game home stand with a midweek contest against Central Christian College on Wednesday, Sept. 15. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. at McPherson Stadium. Live stats will be available at www.macbulldogs.com.
McPherson (2-1-1) enters the match off its most successful week of the young season with wins coming against Manhattan Christian College (4-2) and Briar Cliff University (1-0). The Bulldogs offense came alive, scoring five goals in two matches, including a pair of goals from senior forward 
Brent Mulford (Topeka, Kan.) and sophomore midfielder 
Andrew Suits (Henderson, Nev.). Suits recorded MC’s lone goal in their 1-0 win over BCU last Saturday.
Mulford and Suits lead the offense with five of the team’s six goals on the year. Mulford ranks atop the squad with three goals and six points. Two of his three scores came against Manhattan Christian last Wednesday.
Goalkeeper Blake Jett owns a 2-1-1 record between the posts for the Bulldogs in 2010. He has posted a .947 goals against average and .765 save percentage in 380 minutes. He has one shutout on the season.
The Bulldogs hit the road for the first time this weekend, traveling south for a match against Rogers State University. MC will open play with the Hillcats at 4:00 p.m. CST in Claremore, Okla.
Last Week for the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs finished the week 2-0-0 following a pair of home victories against Manhattan Christian College and Briar Cliff. In Wednesday’s win against Manhattan Christian, junior defender Tyler Tank notched his first career game winning goal in the 50th minute to put MC up, 3-2. The Bulldogs would add another 10 minutes later to make it a 4-2 final.
On Saturday, McPherson welcomed its final GPAC opponent of the season in Briar Cliff University. Goalkeeper Blake Jett earned his first shutout of the season with seven saves in 90 minutes of action. The match remained scoreless until Andrew Suits drove home the eventual game winning goal in the 69th minute. Both sides recorded 14 shots.
Scouting Central Christian
Central enters the contest with a 3-1-1 overall record and a 1-1-0 mark during the previous week. The Tigers lone loss came at the hands of Southwestern Assemblies of God University, 2-1. Against KCAC opponents, CCC is 0-0-1 with a draw against Sterling College on Sept. 7.
Junior forward Charlie Schlott and sophomore midfielder Gunnar Kelly lead a potent offensive attack that has outshot its opponents 107 to 20. Schlott leads the team with four goals and two assists, while Kelly acts as the team’s primary distributer, accounting for five assists. 
Senior goalkeeper Curtis Flaming acts as the Tigers primary goalkeeper. The 6-1, 145-pound native of McPherson, has allowed three goals in five games and owns a .570 goals against average. Flaming has played all 470 minutes for CCC making 19 saves en route to three shutouts on the young season.
The Tigers are led by fifth year head coach Cole Ouren. Ouren, a former player for Central from 2003 to 2007, has guided CCC to two MCAC conference tournament appearances and a NCCAA regional tournament berth in 2005. Prior to becoming the head coach, he spent time as an assistant and student assistant for the Tigers.
