The Matchup
McPherson enters conference action looking to right the ship Saturday afternoon at the University of Saint Mary. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m. at the USM Football/Soccer Complex on the campus of the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan.

The Bulldogs are 3-4-1 overall after finishing the non-conference portion of the schedule with two tough losses at Oklahoma Baptist University and Mid-America Christian University. McPherson’s primary struggle of late has been on the offensive side of the ball. In the last three matches, MC’s opponents have outshot the Bulldogs 78-20, while tallying only eight shots on goal. Despite the struggles, McPherson expects a win against USM this weekend. The Spires are currently 1-6-0, including a recent 4-0 loss at Missouri Valley College last Saturday. Saint Mary’s lone victory came against Central Christian on Sept. 21.

Despite being held scoreless in her last three matches, Amanda Aragon remains among the top five in the KCAC with four goals. She leads the team with eight points, while ranking second on the team with 17 shots. Haley Cook has been the team’s primary distributer with three assists on the season.

Molly Whitwell remains the Bulldogs primary goalkeeper. On the season, she has registered a 1.87 goals against average and .785 save percentage. Whitwell owns a 3-4-1 record, including two shutout wins.

Last Week for the Bulldogs
McPherson finished last week with a 0-2-0 record after dropping road matches at Oklahoma Baptist University and Mid-American Christian College.

On Friday, the Bulldogs traveled to Shawnee, Okla., to play a talented OBU side. The Bison controlled the
tempo from the opening kickoff, scoring two goals within the first 15 minutes of the match. The Bulldogs battled, but a pair of second half goals proved too much to overcome.

McPherson completed its non-conference schedule against the undefeated Evangels of Mid-America Christian University last Saturday. MACU, who entered the match outscoring opponents 24-1, proved why they carried an unblemished record. The Evangels peppered the MC goal for 32 shots, including 19 on frame in the Bulldogs 5-0 loss.

Scouting USM
The Spires (1-6-0) enter conference action off a 4-0 loss to Missouri Valley College. The Vikings held the USM offense to just three shots, while tallying 20 of their own in the victory. USM’s lone win of the season
came against Central Christian College on Sept. 21. The Spires offense scored a pair of second half goals en route to the 3-1 win. Forward Bobbi Lynn Hinkle was credited with two goals in the effort.

Hinkle leads the Spire offense with three goals on 12 shots. Her six points rank ninth in the KCAC. Midfielders Claire Beebe (2) and Kathleen Hermesch (1) are the only other Spires to record goals on the season.

Defensively, goalkeeper Kelsie Maxwell has started six games and owns a 1-5-0 record on the season. She has registered a 4.13 goals against average and .600 save percentage.

Head coach Derek Mazeitis (Truman State University (Mo.)) is in his fourth year as the head coach of the USM soccer programs. Prior to USM, Mazeitis coached at Platte County High School in Platte City, Mo.
