Jordan vs Central

Men's Tennis | 3/29/2012 10:58:00 PM

McPherson, Kan. - The McPherson College men’s tennis team hosted crosstown rival Central Christian College today at McPherson High School.  The Bulldogs took a commanding lead after doubles and never looked back.  In doubles, the Bulldogs swept all the doubles points with quick wins from all three positions to go into the singles competition with a 3-0 lead.

In singles play, the Bulldogs continued to stay in control with quick wins from junior Jonathan Wickramsinghe and Thiago Da Silva to seal the match for McPherson.  Central Christian College’s number one player Mark Gayer made it interesting by pushing McPherson College’s top player the distance.  Gayer won the first set fending off a comeback attempt from Bukatin; however, Bukatin quickly gained control of the second set to force a third set tie-breaker.  In the tie-breaker, Bukatin again had to come from behind to win the match with a 10-7 score.

The Bulldogs now turn their attention to Seminole State College.  The match is set for Saturday, March 31 in Riverside Park in Wichita at 10:00am.
