McPherson, Kan. – It's the same old story for Lady Bulldog soccer. They keep taking the shots but cannot slide one by the opponent. The latest chapter came in a 1-0 defeat to Southwestern College.
MC is now tied with SWC for fourth in the KCAC and need a win on Tuesday to have a chance of hosting a conference tournament first round game; Southwestern would also have to lose their final game of the season for the 'Dogs to host.
Both teams created chances but it was the Lady Moundbuilders who scored theirs. The game's lone goal came in the 29th minute of the first half. From there, SWC hung on to their 1-0 advantage for the remainder of the contest.
Despite outshooting SWC, the Lady 'Dogs continued to struggle to find the back of the net; this season, they've out shot their opponents in the majority of their contests but have scored just 12 times.
Mac took 18 total shots with five finding the keeper's hands. Gabriela Navarro (Wichita, Kan.) took four attempts, none being on target, to lead the team. Jessica Dominguez (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Amy Stockton (Manhattan, Kan.) each took three shots; Stockton put two of hers on frame while Dominguez had one on goal.
Caitlyn Blagrave (Rio Rancho, N.M.) ended the 90-minute contest with six saves to her credit.
The team now travels to Bethany College on November 5th for a 4:00 p.m. (CT) contest with the 9-6, 7-1 Lady Swedes.
