Men's Tennis Drops Road Match at D-II Rockhurst

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (macbulldogs.com) --- The McPherson College men's tennis team fell to NCAA Division II Rockhurst University, 7-2, Sunday in a match played at the Loyola Park Tennis Courts.

The Bulldogs (0-2) grabbed one point in doubles after Ahmed Lahlou (Casablanca, Morocco) and Nicolas Wahl edged Decho Valev and Dan Chmielewski, 9-8 (4), at the No. 2 spot. 

The other McPherson point came at No. 5 singles, where Juan Alejandro Jimenez (Pereira, Colombia) defeated Joe Ibarra, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (8). Joan-Marc Fajula Rodriguez (Catalonia, Spain) extended Jonas Stropus to a third set at No. 1 singles before falling 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (7).

"These last two matches have actually been a blessing for us," said head coach Dustin Wheeler. "It's pointed out exactly where we are weak and where we are strong. We know where we stand and we know where we need to be. Time to get to work!"

McPherson will play its first NAIA opponent of the year Saturday when they travel to Baldwin City, Kansas, for a match against Baker University.
