Men's Tennis Completes Unbeaten KCAC Slate; No. 1 Seed for Tourney

Box Score McPHERSON, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) --- The No. 23-ranked McPherson College men's tennis team closed out its regular season with a 6-0 victory over Friends University Friday afternoon at the Doris Coppock Tennis Courts.

The Bulldogs (12-3, 9-0 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference) won the two contested doubles matches as Ahmed Lahlou (Casablanca, Morocco, Groupe Scolaire Anfa) and Hector Carrillo Perales (Barcelona, Spain, Bon Salvador) topped Kris Veljacic and Kerry Dunn, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles, while James Lee (Cambridge, England, Freman College) and Leandro Neix Bazzanini (Itapetininga, Brazil, Colegio Objectivo) shut out Zach Pena and Rodrigo Mansur at the No. 2 spot.

In singles play, Carrillo defeated Veljacic, 7-6 (0), 6-2, at the No. 1 spot, while Jacob Turley (Milton Keynes, England, Cedars Upper School) beat Kerry Dunn, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2.

McPherson closed out the match with an 8-1 win by Daan Coppelmans (Waalre, The Netherlands, Sint-Joriscollege Eindhoven) over Pena and an 8-0 victory from Bazzanini over Mansur.

The victory gave the Bulldogs a second consecutive KCAC title and the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in the upcoming league tournament. McPherson will face the winner of Saturday's first-round match between Southwestern College and Kansas Wesleyan University at 9 a.m. Friday, April 27, at Kossover Tennis Complex in Topeka.
