Bulldogs Go On the Road and Sweep Avila

Kansas City, Mo. – The McPherson College Bulldogs continued their current streak of straight set victories on Wednesday night. Their latest victim the Avila University Eagles, a team that pushed them to five sets a little over a week ago.

This time however, the Bulldogs were able to sweep the Eagles on their home floor, winning easily 25-16, 25-18, 25-15. Set one was tied at 7 when the Bulldogs went on a 6-0 run, and from there they never looked back. The second set was a little more competitive. The Eagles kept things close until late. The Bulldogs led by just one, 16-15 before winning nine of the last 12 points to take the set 25-18.

In the third and final set, the teams were tied a 3, but then the Bulldogs went on a 9-1 run, and put the Eagles in the rearview mirror, winning the set 25-15. 

Key Statistic

The Bulldog attack was very efficient, recording an attack percentage north of .300. The offense finished with 45 kills on an even 100 swings with 13 errors.

Three Bulldogs had attack percentages over .300, and two of them were above .500.

The Bulldogs recorded assists on 39 of their 45 kills.

Defensively they tallied five blocks, and came up with 42 defensive digs.

 Next Up

The Bulldogs, now 18-7 on the season, and 15-4 in KCAC play, will be back in action this weekend when they go on another road trip, this time down to Winfield, Kansas. They will play a triangular on Saturday against the Bethel College Threshers and Southwestern College Moundbuilders. The Bulldogs are scheduled to play Bethel at 2:00 pm and the Builders at 4:00.
