McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson College Bulldogs made a huge statement Saturday (Mar. 2) with a 7-0 sweep over (RV) Midland University at the Bulldog Tennis Center.
In the doubles competition, Arthur Nardy and Celien Botlan made quick work the team of Bitzer/Liebig in the No. three position, 6-1, but Oscar Brouwer and Daniel Marcano fell 6-4. Martin Millos and Michael Beltran gave the Bulldogs the doubles point with a 7-6 win after winning the tiebreaker 7-2.
The Bulldogs kept that momentum as Beltran defeated Benjamin Starman 6-2, 6-3 in the top singles spot, while Arthur Nardy knocked off Vitor Goncalves 6-3, 6-4 to put MC on top 3-0. Marcus Nardy sealed the victory with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Joren Stevens.
But the Bulldogs weren't satisfied with just the win as Millos and Botlan each made quick work in their singles matches, with Millos winning 6-1, 6-1 and Botlan taking care of business 6-0, 6-2. Brouwer completed the sweep with a 6-1, 7-5 win.
MC hit the road next week for three matches in five days, all of which will be played in Georgia. The Bulldogs will open with No. 11-ranked Reinhardt on Monday (Mar. 11), before squaring off against Point University on Wednesday (Mar. 13). MC will wrap up their spring break trip with the nation's top team in Georgia Gwinnett on Mar. 15.
