Men’s Tennis Secures a Pair of Wins

McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson College Bulldogs men's tennis squad swept Tabor 7-0 on Thursday (Mar. 28) before traveling to Wichita to knock off Friends 6-1 on Saturday (Mar. 30).

MATCH ONE – MC 7, TC 0

The Bulldogs got off to a hot start in doubles, dropping just one game. Martin Millos and Michael Beltran swept Ko Osuga and Jean Paul Fort, then Arthur Nardy and Celien Botlan matched with a 6-0 sweep of Alexis Torres and Nathan Coria. Daniel Marcano and Simon Delgadillo finished off the doubles competition with a 6-1 win over Jake Goertzen and Stephano Chan.

Beltran gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead to open the singles competition with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Osuga, then Millos followed suit with a 6-4, 6-0 win in #3 singles over Goertzen.

Arthur Nardy clinched the win with a quick 6-1, 6-4 win over Fort, before Botlan and Marcano took care of business in their matches, winning 6-2, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0, respectively. Texas Ranger Schmidt completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 win over John Ferley in #6 singles.

MATCH TWO – MC 6, FRU 1

The Bulldogs picked up the doubles point after a trio of hard-fought matches. Arthur Nardy and Botlan fell in the #2 position, but Schmidt and Marcano leveled the score with a 7-6 win over Connor Fitzsimmons and Nathan Harris. Millos and Beltran gave the Bulldogs the 1-0 lead with a 7-6 win over Bruno Suiama and Auron Hoyer.

In the singles competition, Delgadillo made it a 2-0 lead with a quick 6-2, 6-1 win over Fitzsimmons. Marcano followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Aidan Marshall in the #4 spot, before Arthur Nardy clinched the victory with a 6-0, 6-4 win.

Millos defeated Hoyer 6-4, 6-4, before Beltran picked up the win in the top singles position, knocking off Suiama 4-6, 6-0, 6-1. Malik Brown fell to Jacob Bush 6-2, 6-0 in the #6 position.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Thursday (Apr. 4) to take on Bethel College at the Bulldog Tennis Center.
