Bulldogs fall, 1-0, to visiting Cougars

Box Score McPherson, Kan. – University of Sioux Fall’s Lance Norling scored in the 61st minute as the McPherson College men’s soccer team lost a physical battle to the Cougars, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at McPherson Stadium. 

The loss is the Bulldogs first of the season (0-1-1, 0-0-0), while USF improves to 3-1-0 on the short season.

The game remained deadlocked through the first period of action, until USF’s Lance Norling broke the tie in the 61st minute on his first goal of the season. McPherson would have their opportunities during the final 29 minutes, but failed to finish.

McPherson recorded 17 total shots, including seven shots on goal, while holding the Cougars to four shots on goal.

Junior goalkeeper Blake Jett (Fort Worth, Texas) played all 90 minutes, recording three saves, while allowing one goal. Sophomore Andrew Suits (Henderson, Nev.) led the Bulldogs with five shots and three on goal.

McPherson will return to action Wednesday, Sept. 8, as they take on Manhattan Christian College at McPherson Stadium. Kickoff is set to begin at 8:00 p.m. CST.
