Denise Race ’87: Race was an outstanding athlete at McPherson College from 1984 to 1987. She was named all-conference in track all four years and all-conference in volleyball for three of those four years. While competing at McPherson, she set records in the high jump, triple jump, and long jump. Throughout her college career, she consistently participated in and often led her team in scoring at District 10, Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, and national indoor and outdoor meets. In volleyball, she won a varsity letter all four years and led the team in kills during the 1986 season with 231. She was also selected an Academic All-American.

While a student at McPherson, Race was president of the Bittinger dorm council, a class officer, and a member of the homecoming court. She currently lives in Pasco, Wash., and works in agricultural sales.
