Ray Nonken '30, who passed away in 1966, earned 12 varsity letters during his McPherson College career. Captain of both his football and basketball teams his senior year, he received third team All-American recognition following his 1929 basketball season. Nonken twice won All-KCAC first team honors in basketball (1929 and 1930) and once as a quarterback following the 1929 season. He was an integral member of the 1930 national champion Wichita-based Levitt’s AAU basketball team. Following his graduation from McPherson, he taught and coach for 35-years at several Kansas schools including Wakeeney, Abilene, Lyons, Hope, and Nickerson.
