Melvin Miller '30, who passed away February 4, 1999, was a three All-Kansas Conference basketball selection and earned thirteen varsity letters at McPherson College during his four-year career. At the time of his graduation, Miller was the College career scoring leader with 863 points and held every McPherson College scoring record. Following his collegiate career, he was a four-time AAU All-American with Wichita Henrys as they won National AAU titles in 1930, 1931, and 1932. Miller was voted into the Amateur Basketball Hall of Fame in 1962. During his Bulldog career, Miller was also a second team All-Conference selection in football, and participated in both track and baseball.
