Erica Alvarez was a four-year member of the McPherson College volleyball and basketball teams, making her mark in both sports.
 
On the volleyball court, Alvarez was a two-time All-KCAC selection (First Team-2003, Second Team-2002). She graduated as McPherson's career leader in sets played, service aces, solo blocks and total blocks, and still holds the school's career record for kills (1,196), as well as single-season marks for kills (399 in 2003), solo blocks (77 in 2003) and blocks per set (1.44 in 2002) and the single-match mark for solo blocks (7, tie).
 
Alvarez was also a two-time All-KCAC first-teamer on the basketball court (2001-02, 2003-04) where she graduated holding program records for points (484) and free throws (116) in a single season and free throws made (335) and games played (107) in a career. She also ranked second on MC's career scoring chart upon graduation with 1,509 points – a total that still ranks third all-time.
 
Active in the community, Alvarez is a member of the Greater Oklahoma City Hispanic Chamber and started the first Boy Scouts of America "Soccer and Scouting" program in the Oklahoma City metro area. She has also served on the Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) Superintendent's Diversity Council, the OKCPS English Language Learners Committee, the Latino Community Development Agency Scholarship Review Committee and is a campus representative for the R is for Thursday program.
 
Alvarez assisted with religious education classes at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Oklahoma City from 2007-09 and served as a church carnival volunteer. She is now a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, also in Oklahoma City.
 
Alvarez is the Director of Graduation and Career Services at Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
