Jan Foley Monahan participated in tennis, basketball, track & field, volleyball, and softball during her time at McPherson College, earning 20 varsity letters. She twice won the KAIAW #2 singles title (1972 and 1974) as well as the 1974 ACCK #1 doubles title when she teamed with 2001 McPherson College HOF inductee Laura Sundahl Smysor. Jan posted a 35-12 record in four years of singles play plus was part of doubles teams which were 31-9.
Monahan was the ACCK high jump champion in 1975 after being runner-up in the high jump as a freshman and then placing in four events (high jump, shot put, discus, and 440-dash) at the ACCK track and field championships her junior season.
Jan helped lead the Bulldog basketball program to a 41-23 record during her four years at McPherson. She averaged a career high 9.8 points per game as a junior.
Following her graduation from McPherson College with a B.A. in biology, Jan went on to earn a B.S. in petroleum engineering from Colorado School of Mines in 1982.
Monahan currently resides in Denver, Colo., where she works as a reservoir engineer for McElvain Oil & Gas.
