Josh Alexander, class of 2000, was a two-time unanimous All-KCAC First Team selection and in 2000, he became only the second player in men’s basketball history to be named to the NAIA First Team.
Alexander began his collegiate career at Hutchinson Community College where he was named First Team All-Jayhawk Conference in men’s basketball. In the fall of 1998, Josh transferred to McPherson College to continue his education and basketball career.
During his tenure with the Bulldogs, Alexander proved to be one of the most athletic players head coach Roger Trimmell had the privilege of coaching. In 1999-2000, Alexander averaged a double-double at 22 points and 10 rebounds per game en route to setting a McPherson College single season record for points in a season with 659. He ended the season with 13 games of double digit scoring and rebounding.
Along with the scoring record, Alexander wrote himself in the program record book with 180 free throws made, 299 total rebounds and 136 steals during the 1999-2000 season.
Alexander graduated from McPherson in the spring of 2000 with a Bachelor’s of Science in sociology and has the men’s basketball team’s record holder for points (1,283), rebounds (498) and steals by a two-year athlete.
Following his graduation, Alexander began working for the McPherson Park Department as a ground supervisor, while working on a second Bachelor’s degree from Central Christian College.
Since 2005, Josh has worked as an owner-agent for Shelter Insurance. He is a three-time District agent of the year, including most recently the 2009 winner. He remains active with the McPherson College men’s basketball team not only as a supporter, but also as an athlete. He continually participates in the Bulldogs annual alumni scrimmage.
Alexander currently resides in McPherson, Kan. with his family.
