As a freshman, Kelly won the first of four KCAC 100-meter hurdles championships by tying the meet record of 14.9 seconds. Along with her 100-meter hurdles championships, she also went on to become a three-time champion on the 400-meter hurdles and the 1982 champion in the high jump.
