Jeanne Suellentrop Boucek ’77: An all-around athlete, Jeanne Suellentrop Boucek lettered four years in volleyball, three years in basketball, and three years in track at McPherson College. She was named all-KCAC in basketball for the 1975-76 and 1976-77 seasons, and in track she participated in the pentathalon (five events—100 meter hurdles, shotput, high jump, long jump, and 200 meters). She placed first in AIAW region five, third in the nationals, tenth in the AAU outdoor games, and seventh in the Pan Am Games trials. As a result, she was named to the United States Track and Field Federation’s All-American Track and Field Team. For her achievements, Boucek was named Outstanding Female Athlete at McPherson College in 1976 and 1977.

After graduation, Boucek participated in the 1980 Olympic basketball trials and was a member of the AAU Missouri Valley Tournament All-Star Team from 1980-1983. She has also played on two championship slow pitch softball teams and was named most valuable player in one tournament in 1982, and most valuable offensive player in 1984.

Professionally Boucek has served as head girls’ basketball coach at Turner High School in Kansas City, in addition to an assistant coach in volleyball and track. She has also coached and taught at Goddard High School, Bishop Miege, and Shawnee Mission High Schools. She is presently a facilities engineer for Illuminet in Overland Park, Kan.
